FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
FOR THE TOURPARTY FREERIDE & FREESTYLE CAMP
Hmmm.... Okay... some words of wisdom...
DO I HAVE TO WEAR A HELMET?
Everyone participating in our Tourparty Camps wears a helmet all the time. This is for your own protection and is non-negotiable... it doesn't matter how old or how experienced you are! Cover the lid in stickers, put it on your head and forget about it... everyone else will have one and you'll soon get used to it. Every Camp there are people who are glad they wore a helmet, it stops a lot of hoildays finishing early... and we don't want to be scouping your brains up off the snow!
DO I HAVE TO GET INSURANCE?
Yes, you must get proper insurance. Skiing and snowboarding are risky, potentially deadly, activity and accidents can happen on the mountain. We're not responsible... participating in the Tourparty Camp is competely at your own risk. We'll try to help you avoid injuring or killing yourself but you're flesh and bone... If you don't understand or accept that (or your family and friends don't) stay at home.
See the Terms & Conditions page for more on Insurance.

I HAVE SELECTIVE HEARING, IS IT OKAY JUST TO LISTEN TO TRICK TIPS AND IGNORE EVERYTHING ELSE I'M TOLD?
One of the things you are paying for is advice from those who have been there, done it and got more than a t-shirt. The Coaches and Staff want to help you stay in one piece and to teach you everything they know... but if you develop selective hearing then you will miss out on important stuff. For example, if we tell you the sun is very strong and you should put on suncream... we mean it! Check out some of the photographs from the April 2006 Camp to see what happens when you don't put on suncream on the mountain! We told them, and we told them again... listen up and you might avoid a bright red bloated face and sunstroke! ;-)
DO I HAVE TO BE SOME KIND OF AMAZING SKIER/SNOWBOARDER FOR THE CAMP?
Nope. Not at all. As long as you are a competent skier/boarder (you can handle red runs easily) and want to progress then you'll find yourself at home on a Tourparty Camp.
We have people of all ages (10 to 50+) and abilities. Some are almost at Pro level (sking in Comps etc) but others are good skiers and snowboarders who have never been near a halfpipe, kicker or rail but are up for learning how. We've even had a few skiers and snowboarders who had never been on snow before but had been training hard at their local artificial slope for a few years (they made the transition to snow in about 2 minutes flat!).
Whether you are just starting to get into freestyle or freeride, or are in the process of finding sponsors and "going Pro", the Tourparty Freestyle & Freeride Camp will help you progress much faster than anything else you've ever experienced.
Tourparty Camps are sponsored by Burton, LINE Skis, Anon and Red:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
FOR 10-17 YEAR OLDS ON THE TEENSKI HOLIDAY
Two months before the trip we send out a pack with advice on what clothing, equipment etc to bring, what to expect etc. In the meantime here are some of the FAQs:
WILL I MAKE ANY FRIENDS IF I COME ON MY OWN?
You are welcome to come on your own or with friends. Either way, as soon as you arrive you will make lots of new friends from around the UK. We have guys and girls of all ages on the holiday, the atmosphere is really friendly and supportive, and our staff are really approachable and easy to get to know.
Everyone has at least one thing in common - a love of skiing and snowboarding - and that means that by the end of the week you will be friends with everyone... other skiers and snowboarders, Coaches and Pro riders. The friendships carry on too, you will probably stay in touch with people after the Camp and meet up at different events around the UK.

HOW STRICT ARE THE STAFF SUPERVISING THE TEENSKI HOLIDAY ABOUT CURFEWS, DRINKING ETC?
The main point of coming on this holiday and attending the Tourparty Camp is to ski and board as much as possible and improve. You won't be able to do this if you've been up all night and are really tired so we do set bedtimes depending on age group etc. We think these are fair and generally people are pretty tired after a long day anyway. (For the oldest on the TeenSki holiday the curfew for being in the hotel is normally no later than 11.30pm.)
It is illegal for people under 16 years old to buy alcohol in France. So if you are under 16 years old you are not allowed to smoke or drink on the TeenSki holiday and Tourparty Camp. If you do we may send you home at your parents' expense.
If you are 16 or 17 years old then you can have a few beers each day and/or smoke provided your parents give us their permission in writing. (As it happens you will struggle to find a Coach or member of our staff who smokes, but if you insist on it we won't stop you... as long as you don't do it near any of us!) However if you can't live with these ground rules then we suggest you get together with some friends or get your family organised and book one of the other packages so that you can do your own thing outside of the Tourparty Camp programme.
No apologies for these ground rules, we don't think it's any big deal and hundreds of young people coming on our residential holidays before have been able to follow them no problem. The fact is we have to take our responsibility for you very seriously, this is a supervised residential holiday and Camp... we want you fit and well for skiing and snowboarding and doing all the other activities you've paid for.

DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT?
No, you can hire skis, snowboards and boots in resort (we can help you with this, let us know).
If you are going to buy equipment the first thing to buy are boots as these can make a big difference to your comfort and performance while skiing and snowboarding, and rental boots are never going to be as good as your own pair.
If you have a pair of skis or a snowboard that's great - provided they are freestyle skis - but there's no need to buy just for this Tourparty Camp. (If you have a pair of skis or a snowboard that are a bit beaten up don't worry, just get them tuned and waxed before you come out.)
SHOULD I BUY LOADS OF EXPENSIVE GEAR FOR THIS HOLIDAY?
If you want to and can afford it, okay. But it's not a fashion show and the Coaches have clothing from years back! (Donations welcome!) Just make sure you have enough technical clothing and equipment (jacket, pants, thermals, gloves, goggles) to keep warm and dry whatever the weather. There is nothing worse than being wet and cold 3000m up a mountain. It doesn't matter how old your kit is, or who made it, as long as it works!
