We had some fantastic weeks in Barcelona on the RHUK Spanish Camps in 2006 and 2007 thanks to the enthusiastic participation and enthusiasm of everyone who attended and the hard work of the Coaching staff who did such an excellent job helping everyone take their hockey to the next level. It was unforgettable!.

Now, following the success in 2006 and 2007, we are very happy to confirm we will be returning to Barcelona for Summer 2008 for three Camps - don't miss out!

The RHUK Spanish Inline Roller Hockey Summer Camp is a great chance for young inline hockey players from all around the world to come together:

• to have an unforgettable holiday in the sun, doing lots of different activities and playing inline hockey every day!

Barcelona has a huge amount to offer - from great facilities to multi-activities, good beaches, blue skies and sunshine. Our Barcelona courts and hostel offer excellent facilities, are well located and have some great beaches nearby, and no question... our friends in Barcelona are looking forward very much to welcoming us to their city. How many more reasons do we need to head to Spain in July and August 2008?!

WHO COMES ON A RHUK CAMP?

The RHUK Inline Hockey Camp is open to boys and girls aged 10-17 years who enjoy playing roller hockey and want to improve their skills and techniques while having lots of fun off-rink too. Players attending our Inline Roller Hockey Camps are normally from lower intermediate to elite level.

Players from anywhere in the world are always very welcome. English is the main language on our Camps but we will have Spanish speaking coaches too - players from the USA, Hong Kong, Spain, France, Scotland, England, Sweden, Ireland, Switzerland and Wales have all attended our RHUK Camps in the past.

As well as the inline hockey and fun activities there is also an opportunity to work on your language skills if you want to attend optional daily language conversational classes in English or Spanish. Click on the link to read more about our conversational foreign language tutoring and classes.

Players sometimes attend with friends, team mates or with brothers or sisters but the majority attend on their own. It is very easy to make friends quickly. Within hours of arriving everyone is making friends with other players and the Coaching staff, no problem.

If you come with people you know we will make sure you get to spend plenty of time together - our RHUK Inline Hockey, Hoopers Basketball and Kickers Football/Soccer Camps all run at the same time in the same location so even if your friends/siblings are doing football/soccer or basketball you'll see them all the time you're not training. Either way we will do whatever it takes to help you have a great holiday, take your basketball to the next level and have lots of fun!

ONE WEEK OR MORE?

You can book for one week, two weeks or the whole Summer - choosing to do inline roller hockey for up to three weeks along with basketball and/or football. You can also put together one or more weeks at the Barcelona Camps with one or more weeks at the snowsports, multi-activity, triathlon and mountain bike Summer Camps in Les Deux Alpes, France. WHAT HAPPENS ON A RHUK INLINE ROLLER HOCKEY CAMP IN SPAIN?

A huge amount goes on over the week! We spend 7 days in Barcelona with top quality coaching by the RHUK Coaches, evening matches against local teams, 10 pin bowling, trips to the beach, swimming, a day at a theme/water park, a tour, shopping and a final day tournament and barbecue and lots more:

WHO ARE THE COACHES ON THE CAMP?

We take a lot of care selecting staff who are not just experienced Coaches and players themselves and passionate about hockey, but also friendly, easy going and approachable.

Most of our Coaching team have worked with us for many years but each year we also recruit new staff to the team to bring new skills and energy to our events. Recently we have had high quality coaches join our team from Canada, North America and Spain to provide specialist training.

Our Coaches know what it is like to play at top level; they have usually played for their country internationally, at NARCh and at the World Championships.

We are delighted to announce that the team this year will be lead by Brent Pope who was so popular last year. He is an imposing figure, both in stature and experience. He has played high level ice hockey in the North American ECHL and AHL after signing with the Edmonton Oilers in 1992 and played for the Ottawa 67’s, Wheeling Thunderbirds and Cape-Breton Oilers before coming to the UK to play for the Cardiff Devils, Nottingham Panthers, London Racers, Hull Stingrays and most recently for the Slough Jets. His long playing experience also includes a former role as Assistant Player/Coach with the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks and the Florida Everblades of the ECHL in 2000/01.

Off-ice Brent has also played high level roller hockey for the Ottawa Wheels, New-Jersey Rockin’ Rollers and Long Island Jawz in the former RHI.

Brent’s coaching experience includes being Bench Coach for the Cardiff Devils (British Knockout Cup Winners 2007), Head Player/Coach and Director of Hockey for the Romford Raiders, Head Coach for the Best of British Ice Hockey Camps, Head Coach/Director for the Cardiff Devils Hockey Clinics and an Instructor on the Can/Am Hockey Camp in Guelph, Ontario where he played for the OHL’s Guelph Storm.

He also has media experience too, having been the BBC Sport Ice Hockey Commentator for the Torino Winter Olympics and for BBC Radio Five Live for multiple EIHL Playoff Finals.

We are lucky to have Brent on-board this year as Head Coach and we are very much looking forward to him sharing his considerable experience as a player and coach with everyone coming to Barcelona. This will be a unique opportunity to meet and be coached by one of the best known figures in British hockey and to find out what it is like to play at the top level.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "RESIDENTIAL" AND "NON-RESIDENTIAL"?

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE FULLY RESIDENTIAL "PLAYER PACKAGE"?

Fully "residential" means you come on the Camp 24 hours a day, participating in all the activities, including evening excursions etc, under the care and supervision of the Camp coaches and staff. You stay with your new friends in comfortable hostel accommodation (click on the link to read all about accommodation and food). Everything for the week is included in the price - all meals, transport, activities, coaching, accommodation etc:

• High quality inline roller hockey coaching by the RHUK Coaching team, together with lots of rink time to learn and practise.


• 24 Hour Care - our team of counsellors will be on-hand to ensure loads of fun and games off-rink and to provide health and welfare advice and support - leave your parents/guardians at home!


• Accommodation - 7 nights in the clean, comfortable, Hotel Residencia Sarria or Youth Hostel Alberg Pere Tarres, sharing en-suite rooms/dormitories with other players (these are arranged by sex/age etc).


• Food - all meals, the only things not included are soft drinks and snacks outside of the normal meals.


• Transportation:
  
  
  • - we offer a free "meet and greet" transfer service from Barcelona International Airport, click on the link for travel information to and from Barcelona (you can make your own arrangements for traveling to and from Barcelona, whether by car, train or airplane.);
  • - for transportation around Barcelona during the week we will have our own private bus for easy, convenient and fast transfers between different locations, from the airport to the courts, from the hostel to the beach, from the beach to the rink etc.
  
  
• Matches - evening games.


• RHUK Barcelona Tournament - on the last day, with teams of players from the Camp playing against each other, followed by a farewell BBQ.


• "Off-rink" activities including 10 pin bowling, trips to the beach, a tour, a visit to the local waterpark or equivalent, swimming, climbing, football, shopping and sight-seeing around this fascinating area of Spain are all included in the "Player Package" price.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE DAY NON-RESIDENTIAL "PLAYER PACKAGE"?

Day "non-residential" means you come on the Summer Camp each day, participating in the day's activities until we finish the inline hockey coaching in the early evening. You will need to arrive each morning at the Hostel in time to leave with us. Lunch will be included but not other meals. You will not participate in the evening activities/excursions, except for evening matches.

Normally players attending on a non-residential day basis either live locally or are staying nearby with family or friends.

NEW OPTIONS

Choose one or more weeks of Inline Roller Hockey Camp and/or combine one or more weeks of inline hockey with a week or more of football/soccer and/or basketball - just book the weeks you want on the different Summer Camps and we will take care of the rest.

Or mix your time over the Summer on Camp in Barcelona (doing basketball, football / soccer and/or inline hockey) with time in the mountains at our French Summer Camp in Les Deux Alpes, participating in different sports there - we will arrange transfers between locations at no extra cost. (Just read about all the Camps from the Tourparty Homepage and decide which weeks you want to attend in Spain and/or France, then book each one and we will take care of the rest when we get your bookings, putting your schedule together, arranging the transfers between the Camps and confirming your booking in detail.)

We also offer optional conversational language classes in English and Spanish if you want to work on your language skills too. (We offer English and French conversational classes on our French Summer Camps.)

CAN PARENTS ATTEND?

If you are planning to attend as a non-resident day participant or you are a friend, relative or parent considering coming to the Barcelona area when someone you know is participating in the 2008 Camp (you will not be alone, a number of parents, families and friends do this each year, some continuing their holidays in the area after the Camp, others visiting for a few days during the period of the Camp and then heading back) see our information page: "Accommodation Only".

There is plenty to do and see in the Barcelona area and a visit is highly recommended.

Parents, family and friends are always welcome to visit the courts to give support during the games against other participants, the Coaches and/or local teams and the RHUK Barcelona Tournament and barbecue on the final day.

PRICES

The Camp is open to boys and girls aged 10 to 17 years inclusive, from Lower Intermediate to Elite level for inline roller hockey. The price for full-residents on the Youth Summer Camp will be £490 (US $1015 or 690 EUR) for everything, except travel to and from Barcelona, Spain. Or £470 (US $975 or 660 EUR) for returners and youth relatives of someone paying full price for a residential or non-residential place.

The price for day non-residents will be £290 (US $595 or 410 EUR) for a place on the RHUK Camp (with lunch, theme park etc) only.

Prices inc. VAT where applicable.

(We welcome bookings from all over the world. We require payment in GB Sterling and for this reason we charge credit and debit cards etc and request bank transfers and cheques (checks) in the GB Sterling price of the holiday. However to help international participants with pricing we have also given prices in EURO and US Dollars where possible (calculated according to the exchange rate on 27 November 07). These alternative currency prices are a guide only, the exchange rate may differ when you book.)

By booking places on the Spanish Camp 2008 you agree to these conditions which include:

• The RHUK Spanish Inline Hockey Camp 2008 is open to players, boys and girls aged 10 years to 17 years from any country.
• Before travel the player must hold a valid passport and, if not an EU national, he or she must have the necessary visa to enter Spain (if one is required). We cannot accept responsibility for the costs arising if permission to travel is refused due to lack of necessary documentation.
• We regret we cannot reserve places without a completed booking form and deposit.
• Places are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We are looking to form three squads for the Spanish Camp. We cannot accept any more players once these places have been fully allocated.
• We reserve the right to change any aspect of the Spanish Camp without warning, provided it does not change the nature and spirit of the trip.
• In the unlikely event we are forced to do so, we reserve the right to cancel the Camp(s); in such circumstances we will give as much notice as possible and a full refund on or before the start date of the Camp. We cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred and recommend you take travel insurance.
